What's Happening?
A very rare occurance: I took on a commission.
I was contacted by Sean Lugo at Savage Habbit to do an "I'm Not Hungry" piece with his cat Noodles and a squirrel. I was feeling particularly good that day and thought I might enjoy painting a cat - I accepted.
I think it worked out well (and I didn't dive into a depression) so I'm seriously considering opening up my commission window again after years of saying no to people.
Not right now - but maybe. Yes, maybe :)
Auguste Clown Gallery in Melbourne just released an exclusive limited edition giclee of "Fiji Frangipani".
It measures 31x41cm and is limited to 250 prints. You can purchase it through their website or stop by the gallery (which I would highly recommend if you're in the Melbourne area) and peruse the many available prints and original pieces on display.
If you're in the Los Angeles area you may want to stop by JapanLA. They have a gallery space in their store where my prints are currently being shown alongside Super Emo Friends and Bored Inc.
You can purchase them framed for $35 or unframed for $25.

Brand new for the Howloween display at Petco - four of my original plush designs as dog toys! You can choose from Bat, Woofman, Frank and Mummy. Best part: my dog LOVES them! Couldn’t have asked for better confirmation that they’re awesome - many thanks to Petco for doing a wonderful job on them!
I'm pretty sure they are available at all the stores in their Halloween display but if not, you can still purchase them online but you won't be able to choose which design - they choose for you. I also just found out that Petco does not sell beyond the US - hang tight - I'll work on trying to get some in house to sell to you guys :D
I just picked up this painting from it's six month long exhibition and I'm really happy to see it again. I kind of forgot how bright the colors are and how big it is (for me, at least!). I think that it's time for this piece to make someone else happy. It will be available for purchase in my shop on Friday, September 7th at 3pm EDT.
I'm going to be donating 10% of the sale price to the NJ Food Bank as well, so many thanks in advance to whoever may give this piece a loving home.

Obviously this guy is part of my "I'm Not Hungry" series and is based on a grizzly bear and one of his favorite meals buddies, the Pink Salmon. Did you know that when the male Pink Salmon is spawning he develops his signature hump - thus the nickname, "Humpy".
Next up is "Lil' Hoot" acrylic on wood, 7" x 5.25" x .75"
For the same series, I decided to take on the Northern Saw-Whet Owl, who is perpetually small and cute (one of the smallest owls in North America) and his little dancing buddy is the Deer Mouse. Did you know that the Deer Mouse has a two-tone tail?
And last but not least is this guy:

I've been staring at his lazy eye for months and just never finished him. I finally took the time to tidy him up and now he's all ready for a loving home. He's based on the Black and White Ruffed Lemur that I have a feeling I'll be revisiting for a more formal sitting in the future.

Cartoon Network and Gallery Nucleus are presenting an Adventure Time tribute show opening August 18th. I was so happy to be asked to be a part of this show. I took one of my favorite episodes, "Death in Bloom" where Finn and Jake take care of Princess Bubblegum's princess plant. After feeding it pizza, cookies and grape soda they kill the plant. Thankfully Peppermint Butler steps in with his 'ties' to Death and the guys get the princess plant back in one piece.

I just put a ton of new items in my shop (ten to be exact) including a 17" print of "Bunga Bangkai", all four critters from the 'I'm Not Hungry' series mounted on plaques as well as the flower duo, "Augustus Crocus" and "Master Galanthus".
I also spotted a couple of older images of mine that I never mounted before and thought they might make someone happy :) I present "Scratch" and "Mommy's Little Prince". Also in the 'older image' file but with a twist, I decided to make "Uni Yeti Snow" but with a white border. It's glossy and bright and it really does look great!
What? Ten new prints just aren't enough for you? Well I've got one more and it's exlcusive to Gallery Nucleus..."Good Rocky's Revival".

I'm back in NJ after visiting California for the Sea No Evil Show. Needless to say I was floored when I saw where I was placed in the show. Yup, that's Bunga Bangkai right between Tim Biskup and Shepard Fairey and adjacent to Gary Baseman, Jeff Soto and Chris Ryniak.
I got word that they raised $63,000 that night! Amazing and happy to have been a very small part of it :D
May I present, "Good Rocky's Revival" (11.75" x 9.25" acrylic on wood) for All Together Now: A Tribute to The Beatles at Gallery Nucleus, opening July 7th through July 29th. If you click the above link you can sign up for the preview (that means you'll get an early shot at seeing/buying the work from this show!) I'm also very happy that it's a benefit show with a portion of the proceeds going to Doctors Without Borders.
When I got the email to be a part of this I started thinking about what Beatles song I could use for inspiration. A small voice said, "...rocky raccoon..." and I jumped because Ed was standing close behind me whispering it. Seems that he has taken the place of my failed memory because I've always loved Rocky Raccoon and wow what an absolutely perfect fit for me!
I also decided to do another progress video (over 400 photos) and although I didn't dare use the original song, I stumbled upon AudioSwap at YouTube which allows you to add music from their 'extensive collection' directly to your video. I found a perfect piano rag and this is the result - enjoy!
