"Halcyon" and Sweets

February 20, 2025

I keep coming back to this bunny image I created a few months ago. At first glance it is a dark piece, but I hope that people can see the serenity in it. I listened to atmospheric, forest sounds and gentle instrumental music while I painted and it filled me with calm. I titled it “Halcyon”. Read into it whatever you’d like, I try not to interfere with how anyone views art.

In the same week, I also painted these three fun pastries! Go figure! All four of these pieces are available in my shop.

I will be signing March 1 & 2 - alongside Jerrod Maruyama, Jasmine Becket-Griffith and Stacey Aoyama. Two New Group Shows Opening February 8!

February 4, 2025

I am so excited to let you all know that I am participating in two group shows that are both opening in Portland on February 8. Above are my paintings for Microdose 5 at Nucleus Portland. All the artwork for this show had to be 4” and under. Thus the 3” x 3” happy pastries - there’s “Dome”, “Charlotte”, “Italian Cookie” and “Panna Cotta”. There are no presales for this show but you can find all the info on their website.

The same night, Memento Mori opens at Brassworks Gallery. I have never worked with them before so I’m extra happy to have been asked to contribute. I decided that I would continue my Blue Pool Series theme, which already has a hint of memento mori in it and created “Filo Della Vita”. You can sign up for a preview on their website here.

I’m Happy and Drawing Pastries

January 24, 2025

I am on a pastry kick as of late and since I ran out of panels to paint I’m just sketching everything I can before I leave for Epcot. This Poppy Seed loaf came to me yesterday. I do all my sketching and color roughs in Procreate on an iPad. This saves me a ton of regret because I can quickly see if something’s going to work or not without wasting paint. I learned a long time ago that this is not a sign of weakness, but rather a necessity for me. I do not visualize my art in my brain, I work everything out on the page so to speak. This is why I have so much anxiety over creating in public on the fly. When I’m signing at Disney and a guest asks me to sketch a particular character my brain seizes up. I have learned to come up with doodles ahead of time that I’m familiar with so I don’t disappoint anyone.

Order Shipping Delay and Epcot!

January 23, 2025

I just wanted to reiterate that my shop will continue to be open, but shipments will not go out between January 25 - February 4 due to my appearance at the Epcot Festival of the Arts. Shipping will recommence on Feb 5.

I’m getting excited and nervous all at once, as I always do when I have any upcoming event. I so look forward to all the wonderful people that I’ll meet, some new friends, some old. My family will be there as well, which is an added bonus! And of course, my husband and ever present other half, Ed. Look for the tattooed bald head somewhere very close to me, but unobtrusive. I will be signing Wednesday, Jan 29 - Sunday, Feb 2 from 11-1 pm every day in the Disney Arts tent between France and Morocco. I’ll hopefully have postcards, deluxe prints and canvases (you can never tell what stock they’ll have, so if you see something you like - buy it!) to sign and give you a lil doodle to boot.

See you there!

Kristin

Sunday, Snowday

January 19, 2025

It’s going to snow today. Not much, maybe a few inches, but it should be pretty as the day progresses. Since I sold all of the pastries yesterday, I am excited to make more! Got a few suggestions and requests. Earl Grey macaron will be first on my drawing board - ooooph, too bad it’s gonna snow or I’d be out buying some! Strictly for reference of course. 😏 I’m going to showcase my progress videos here as well as social media. Please enjoy the above look at the creation of Cannoli.

Black Friday Holiday Sale and New Releases

November 23, 2015

Hey everyone- how have you been? I've been neglecting my blog so I thought it would be nice to post something fun. I'd love to introduce you to "Kahuna Hula", my newest piece that I did for Gallery 1988 to help celebrate their upcoming 2016 solos. I'm really blown away that this will be my 3rd year doing a solo for them and I couldn't be more excited. After an extended period of brainstorming new ideas I finally (well it was Ed's idea) came up with a theme and I'm sure you're going to love it as much as I do! This silly guy is just a 'taste' of what's to come.

So for Black Friday, this painting along with 30 limited edition signed/numbered giclees will go on sale over at Gallery 1988. They are also having their annual holiday sale where most of their inventory (besides their newest shows) will go on sale for 25% off. You can't beat that! Visit their blog for all the details and releases here.

I'm also happy to announce that I'll be having my own Black Friday Holiday Sale that will include new releases too! Please meet, "Enigma" who popped out of my jet lagged brain after Australia and showcases one of my favorite animals, the platypus. He will be available for purchase in my own shop Friday, November 27th at 3pm EST. I have also loaded up my shop with a bunch of brand new prints and plaques that you will be able to purchase beginning Friday (at 12am EST) along with a discount code that will be good on all purchases (including originals) from Friday (11/27) through Saturday 12/5 (at 11:59pm EST) -- use CRMHOLIDAYSALE for 15%! Visit shop.cuddlyrigormortis.com to see what's new.

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season and thank you again!

xo
