I felt a little under the weather yesterday so I quit work early, grabbed a comforter and watched Ed paint this:
November Happenings
I'm so happy to be a super small part of two events this month.
First is Bear and Bird Boutique + Gallery's Small Stuff 5 show, set to open the 20th. It's a lovely Sunday brunch opening with affordably priced artwork. I saw a chance to do something just a bit different and thus keep in line with 'affordably priced'. I had three of these blocks in my drawer and Ed suggested (honestly, what would I do without that man?) I just paint heads. That lead to primary colors which lead to bears which lead to what you see here. "Cinnamon Bear", "California Golden Bear" and "Tibetan Blue Bear" all measure around 5.5" x 3.75" and will be $75 a piece. Since it's a cash and carry event I'd suggest getting out of bed that particular Sunday (if you're in Florida) and getting some early shopping done.
That same weekend is the Holiday Art Star Craft Bazaar in Philadelphia. It's put on by none other than the great gals, Erin and Megan, at Art Star Gallery & Boutique. They've done the show in the springtime, but this is their first holiday event and starts off with a bang Friday November 18th with their V.I.P preview party. This will include snacks, drinks, live music by Olive Juice, a free Art Star Craft Bazaar Tote Bag, Photobooth Fun w/ Love Me Do Photograpy,+ first dibs on all of the amazing work!
I'm not an official vendor, but since they carry my work in their shop, they're bringing along a collection to the show as well. Since it's fairly close to our home, Ed and I will be leaving the comforts of our wooded lair to attend the party and mingle with other people. Insanity!
Hopefully some of you will be able to attend at least one of these great events and see/buy some wonderful art for the holidays! Enjoy xoxo
The Rambler
On a recent trip to visit my in-laws in Syracuse, I spotted this beauty:
What a sweet ride :)
Clean
Well, I said I was going to redo the look of my site and shop and I did! Hurricane Irene took away our power and water for five full days which slowed my comeback but, by golly, it looks good in here now :) I changed the color scheme, trimmed the portfolio a bit and designed a brand new logo.I put all the places to buy Cuddly items on a new page and if you go through the portfolio you'll find updated links on most images on where to purchase those items (like "Kokoro" cards or a mounted "Grampa Hoogly" print, etc.).
And my shop is updated as well, cleaned up and nice and bright. Best part is, if you use the code NEWLOOKIRENE between now and September 12th, you'll receive 20% everything in the shop! And since I rarely put my mounted prints on sale, now's the time to buy :D
Have fun and I hope you like the new look!
xoxo

Is This Anything?
Mr. McPrickles Is A Print!
How wonderful :D The good people over at Gallery Nucleus decided that this little guy was worthy of his own print run! He's up in their shop and ready to go.
Ed Rules
Ed (the guy with my name tattooed on the back of his noggin') has been posting some cool stuff over on his journal. His latest is Cosmic Candy/Space Dust, Pop Rocks misunderstood cousin from the 70's. He found this trippy commercial for them. And you wonder why I had nightmares as a kid...
Pink Nail Polish Day
My good friend just invited me to join in her Pink Nail Polish Day on May 18th and I think it's a great idea. For cake's sake, whatever happened to just having fun? Why does everything have to been a news story involving psychiatrists and politicians. It's NAIL POLISH! And as Jon Stewart pointed out, there's something called 'nail polish remover' too.
Oooo...Beautiful Home...WTF?!
I just spent the better part of today prepping and then printing about a hundred prints for new plaques. Not the most exciting work but it needs to be done. I figured I could use a little break and hopped over to Apartment Therapy to look at the beautiful homes. I can dream, can't I?
First up, a gorgeous San Francisco condo...
Owned by Greg, Brian and their chihuahua-brussels griffon, Mr. Biggs...
They write about Greg's eccentric art collection, including a vintage Keene print, Eric Joyner, super-heroine figures (especially Wonder Woman)...
...and some weird little characters in the kitchen.
Wait a minute...that's my work! A quick scan down the resources list and sure enough I'm listed.
Such a wonderful surprise for an otherwise boring day. Nice to know that my work is out there making people smile everyday.
Thanks guys!
