My solo at Gallery Nucleus is opening September 6th and is titled, Happy as Kings. I was inspired by the Robert Louis Stevenson poem, "Happy Thought":
The world is so full of a number of things
That we should all be as happy as kings
I have a hard time articulating what this show means to me, so I'll quote Gallery Nucleus.
"Cuddly Rigor Mortis, one of our favorite artists, has created a delightful body of work absolutely certain to leave you beaming! ...the artist introduces us to a group of gleeful royals that find happiness in the ordinary yet wonderful things in life.
The subject of this latest collection is one that is close to Tercek's heart. After the artist's lifelong challenge with depression, finding appreciation and happiness in the little things in life became of importance. It is the artist's goal to bring smiles to the faces of all who enjoy her work."
Some of you may know what I've been through in the past and to look back and see how far I've come...well, it chokes me up a bit.
It means the world to me that I'm putting smiles on your faces and helps me get up and paint every single day.
Well, that and ice cream. And sushi. And butterflies and crocodiles. And...well you get the picture ;)
Thank you.
