"There were once a cock and a hen who wanted to take a journey together. So the cock built a beautiful carriage, which had four red wheels, and harnessed four mice to it." That's how the Brothers Grimm tale, 'Herr Korbes' begins and that is the inspiration for my latest painting, "Visiting Herr Korbes"
It's for the Twice-Told Tales show at Flower Pepper Gallery in Pasadena, Ca and it opens January 25th. It is, as you may have guessed, a tribute to the Brothers Grimm. I just got word that this piece has sold already - even before the preview went out! But if you're still interested in the other wonderful works in the show, please email contact@flower-pepper.com to be put on the list.
Here's some details - enjoy!
***Both shows opened with a bang and I wanted to give you the update! My Christmas Story painting sold but there are limited edition prints now available at Gallery 1988. You can still purchase my LOTR original here and/or purchase exclusive prints from Gallery Nucleus. Thanks!***
Next week I have the pleasure of showing in two huge shows. First up is Crazy4Cult 7: Back in NYC opening Friday, December 13th. When I got the list of cult movies I immediately chose A Christmas Story. Classic, sheer joy and comfort come to mind when I watch this movie and I couldn't think of anything else better than to pay tribute to it. I took some of the memorable scenes - the decoder ring, the pink bunny suit and the coup de grâce, the red rider bb gun incident and put them together in this piece. "Sometimes, at the height of our revelries, when our joy is at its zenith, when all is most right with the world, the most unthinkable disasters descend upon us."
"Unthinkable Disasters Descend" acrylic on maple, 8" x 10"
The very next day, Out of the Shire: A Tribute Exhibition to Middle-Earth opens at Gallery Nucleus. I must admit that although I'm a fan of LOTR, I had a tough time coaxing an idea out. Then it just hit me like a flash - ring...horses... - carousel! What can I tell you, but that's how it happened. Months of thinking and thinking and then three words later I've got my idea.
"Lord of the Brass Ring" acrylic on maple, 11" x 13.25"
As with all my work, I hope that they both bring a smile to your face and some of the fun that I have painting them leaks out. Eww, I'm sure I could put that better. Ummm...the fun I have painting ooozes over the edge? No, certainly not. Well, you get the point.
:)

There's loads of prints and plaques so have fun shopping! Code is good through Monday, December 2nd at midnight - Thank you! (This is just a portion of what's in my shop so check it out).
PS there's one original sketch left at Swoon Gallery, "Sugar Cone" and he's ready to go home with someone and cheer them on everyday!
He comes in a simple glass frame and is only $80! Email Ally at swoongalleryla@gmail.com
I'm so happy to be involved with two upcoming shows - the first is opening this weekend at Leanna Lin's Wonderland in Los Angeles, "Through the Looking Glass" an art ornament show presented by the Artist Sisters: CJ Metzger and Miss Mindy (love these two gals!). All the ornaments are cash and carry at the shop and are all under $100! My piece is double sided, glow in the dark and only $75 :)
The second show is "Get the Lead Out V" at Swoon Gallery LA. This year the show will be presented online and all four of my pieces are $150 or less. There are so many amazing artists in this one and at least one piece had to be priced under $100 so there is quite the opportunity to snatch up something cool for the holidays :D
If you want to be put on the preview list for the show (which will go out Wed, Nov 20th) then email Ally at hello@swoongallery. Here's a peek at one of my pieces, "Monkey Buddy"...
Enjoy!
I needed a mini break from painting for my solo and decided...to paint! So I went back to food. Dancing food to be exact and what immediately came to my mind was the animation they used to play at the movies from the 50's "Let's All Go To The Lobby..." with the parade of yummy food.
So, please, sit back and relax and enjoy, "Intermission Time"!
Let's start with "Hot Diggity"
Next up is the always popular "Hot Buttered"
Then you'll surely welcome "Sweet Creamy"
Now how about a sip of "Refreshing"
And last but not least "Tasty"
All five of these pieces are acrylic on maple panels, each measuring 5" x 7". They are protected with a glossy top coat that really makes the wood grain glow.
Here's some closeups so you can see the details:
They are all titled and signed on the back with a sawtooth hanger. I would absolutely love for them to stay as a set so I'll make them available on Friday, November 1st at 3pm EDT for $800 (plus shipping). If they do not sell, the following day I will separate them and they will be available for individual purchase for $175 a piece.
**Note: These fellas are all sold and going to a good home! Thanks everyone :D***
I really hope you all enjoy these little fellows as much as I do! Thanks for reading :D
My painting, "Eleven Legs" acrylic on maple 14" x 8.5"
It's for Wrong Gallery Taipei X ANHE65 International Cat Art Festival opening Oct 26th in Taiwan. My muses were the gallery owner's three rescues from the streets of Taiwan.
Hi everyone!
I'm so happy to announce two brand new pieces for these amazing shows:

This piece measures 11" x 11.25" and is acrylic on maple. My nieces are absolutely huge BBT fans and they were so excited when I told them about this show. They helped me immensely putting together some fun details for this piece - thanks girls!
Next up is my painting for Spoke Art's Bad Dads art show tribute to the films of Wes Anderson. It's entitled, "Fantastic Family Portrait" This is always a fun show and I'm thrilled to be taking part in it again this year. The opening lasts a whole weekend!
Friday, November 1st - opening reception / Halloween party
Saturday, November 2nd - opening reception / Halloween party
Sunday, November 3rd - film screening at the Castro Theatre.
Be sure to visit Spoke Art for more details.
This piece measures 8.5" x 12" and is also acrylic on maple. I had a blast once again painting a frame (it's a lovely gold) and this time incorporating some fun details from the movie, "Fantastic Mr. Fox".
Thanks again for reading and for the support! I wouldn't be doing this if it weren't for all the wonderful people surrounding me :D
They're back!
Petco has once again licensed 4 of my plush designs and turned them into plush dog toys for their Halloween Boo-tique. This year you can get Bat, Woofman, Pumpkin (new this year!) and Frank. You can purchase them individually online or visit your local Petco. But don't wait too long - they sold out before Halloween last year :D (***note: they are on sale with free shipping until Tues, Sept 3rd - perfect timing!)
I am so happy that Prints On Wood is now making prints of Sven! and Fiji Frangipani! and Good Rocky's Revival! and Noodles! and King Crab and Queen Bee! Yay!
They also have a brand new bright white finish which means my original wood grain backgrounds can stay just the way I intended them! I love it :D
