What's Happening?

I watched a beautiful Nature episode last night entitled, "My Life as a Turkey". It documented wildlife artist, Joe Hutto's experience of raising a brood of wild turkeys. Moving, informative and absolutely breathtaking at times, the film was a recreation of Hutto's year-plus life of caring for sixteen chicks. I am equally taken with not only Hutto but the filmaker, David Allen and actor, Jeff Palmer who took it upon himself to allow sixteen turkey chicks to be imprinted on him so they could create this amazing film.
Happy Thanksgiving
Watch My Life as a Turkey - Preview on PBS. See more from NATURE.
Brand new and available in my shop now! Also look for "Miss Plum Duff" as an 8" x 10" giclee and a few other goodies that are on sale. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
It occured to me that when I posted about the Uni Yeti t's I didn't include the fact that I had updated him for a larger format. Here's a close up:

Woop!Woop!Woop! Newsflash!!!
Just got an email from Peter Thaler at Pictoplasma that "Uni Yeti" was chosen to be a part of their Paris exhibition in December. They launched a worldwide search for the Missing Link and got over 5000 entries. "Uni Yeti" will be part of "a very small, considered selection of all entries (and) presented as part of an installation at the heart of (their) upcoming exhibition in Paris, at the new museum la Gaite Lyrique, taking place from December 7 - 31."
The 500 chosen Missing Links will take over a large wall in the central exhibition hall and be presented as digital prints.
I'm (vicariously) going to Paris!
Happy day :)
"Miss Plum Duff" 8.75" x 11.25", acrylic on wood plaque. She'll go on sale Wednesday, November 16th at 3pm EST.
I'm so happy to be a super small part of two events this month.
First is Bear and Bird Boutique + Gallery's Small Stuff 5 show, set to open the 20th. It's a lovely Sunday brunch opening with affordably priced artwork. I saw a chance to do something just a bit different and thus keep in line with 'affordably priced'. I had three of these blocks in my drawer and Ed suggested (honestly, what would I do without that man?) I just paint heads. That lead to primary colors which lead to bears which lead to what you see here.
"Cinnamon Bear", "California Golden Bear" and "Tibetan Blue Bear" all measure around 5.5" x 3.75" and will be $75 a piece. Since it's a cash and carry event I'd suggest getting out of bed that particular Sunday (if you're in Florida) and getting some early shopping done.
That same weekend is the Holiday Art Star Craft Bazaar in Philadelphia. It's put on by none other than the great gals, Erin and Megan, at Art Star Gallery & Boutique. They've done the show in the springtime, but this is their first holiday event and starts off with a bang Friday November 18th with their V.I.P preview party. This will include snacks, drinks, live music by Olive Juice, a free Art Star Craft Bazaar Tote Bag, Photobooth Fun w/ Love Me Do Photograpy,+ first dibs on all of the amazing work!
I'm not an official vendor, but since they carry my work in their shop, they're bringing along a collection to the show as well. Since it's fairly close to our home, Ed and I will be leaving the comforts of our wooded lair to attend the party and mingle with other people. Insanity!
Hopefully some of you will be able to attend at least one of these great events and see/buy some wonderful art for the holidays! Enjoy xoxo
I know it's only five days until Halloween and I know my company name includes the words 'rigor mortis' but this is what came out last week:
What are you going to do? I can't seem to kill anything anymore. I'd rather give Monkey a party than slice open his head. My sincerest apologies to those of you waiting for more creepiness but after living in a severe depression for so long my head is only popping out cute.
"Banana Birthday" measures 7" x 7" on a custom wood plaque and will go sale Tuesday, November 1st at 3pm EDT in my shop. Have a spooky Halloween and good luck everyone!
I told you I had something else to show you.
Besides making plaques, I've also been sneaking in some actual painting and "Inspector Bosc" is one of the results.
I was eyeing up a pear sitting on my counter top and immediately thought he needed to be dressed up. If you're interested, he measures 6.75" x 9.5" and will go on sale Friday, October 14th at 3pm EDT.
You can see some close up pics over in the shop. Good luck and have fun!
I have two new mounted prints in the shop.
"Daffadown Dilly" and "It's A Trap" both measure 3.5" x 24" (same size as the original paintings) and they really do look sharp. I also thought they looked so great side by side that I'm giving you the option of purchasing them as a set with $25 off :D
I also made up a very small batch of "Grampa Hoogly", "Smell You Later" and"Mutual Admiration" mounted prints that are also available in the shop now.
My plaque making has gotten so overwhelming as of late that I enlisted the aid of my dad to fashion a walk in spray booth for me in our spare room. With the threat of a another bad winter looming I felt it was neccessary to have a way to spray in the house without getting finish over everything.
It's working like a charm!
So check out the shop and stay tuned, I'll be posting about another new item tomorrow (hint: it's 'original').
Enjoy!
