Cranberry Sauce

Oh dear lord, Ed just made his cranberry sauce in preparation for Thanksgiving dinner. Yes, Ed cooks Thanksgiving dinner for my family. I set the table. Yes, he is amazing. I know, I'll be very nice to him.

Oh! Back to the cranberry sauce - sweet jeebus it's delightful! Every year it gets better. And don't ask for the recipe because I don't know it but there's whole cranberries and walnuts and sugar and clementines...

And I ask myself why don't we have this more often? Why can't I have this delicious sauce of fresh berries over vanilla ice cream? Why can't I put a dollop of heavy cream on a bowl of it and savor it as dessert?

I don't know why. But I do know that there's enough that I can sneak a little tonight. And I will. Oh yes, I will :D

Once again...

I love my husband. He's amazing. He puts up with me. He loves me. We just celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary (we got married at DisneyWorld)

and I honestly love him more today than the day I married him, which, frankly, seems impossible that my heart is capable of that much love (in a good way!).

Last year Ed got Papper Och Penna to design my name just for him:

So he could have it tattooed on the back of his noggin'.

So why not take a look at my husband. He's funny, writes about cool things and draws like a m*tha-f* --Shut your mouth!

xoxo,

Kris

This is ceramic...

....no sh*t. Looking for reference for chesnuts and saw these horse chestnuts. Brought me right back to my childhood at my grandma's house.

Clicked through and it's Penkridge Ceramics. These are all ceramic. Amazing.

Again, the above photo is not a still life painting -- it's all individual pieces of hand crafted/painted ceramics.

From Italy to the Jersey Shore...

I got an email from dilkathebear the she put me as a contact on Flickr. She's an amazing artist from Italy, selling her work on Etsy. Please click the link below to see her other work.

Dilkabear's Etsy ShopAlright, simple enough. She also had these wonderful lockets with her artwork on them that intrigued me. I saw that she was having them made by another Etsy artist, Polarity.

Polarity But the artist isn't Polarity, she's Catherine Ivins and she owns Olive Bites Studios which she says is "Repurposing Sustainable Cork and Upcycling Recycled Steel into Amazing Jewelry and Housewares"

To say the least! I'm in love with these little bits of magic she's making. But what's that? She's living in NJ? By the shore? No. Can't be. Yup. An artist from Italy friends me on Flickr which prompts me to search out the little lockets she's got for sale which brings me to another artist who probably lives really close by me. And I've never heard of her. I love the internets!

So my mind is whirling with ideas and I emailed Catherine in hopes that we can collaborate on something. But before any of that, I wanted to get the work of these two wonderful artists out there. So visit, love and buy something fun :D

Sam's Club vs. Neiman Marcus

The throwdown begins NOW! Seems that the giants of excess (N.M.) and the giants of not-excess (walmart) are going after the same demographic this holiday season: people with too much money on their hands.

Sam's Club is offering up this Fairytale Wedding in their catalog:

For only $198,000 you and your mate can get hitched in Walt Disney World with 50 of your closest friends and family. The reception is backstage amonst the parade floats, the happy couple is announced on a float with a gaggle of performers who sing a song made up just for them. Private fireworks, celebrity wedding planners, four days of being escorted around the parks, etc, etc.

And Neiman Marcus has this:

ACupcake Car for only $25,000. Sure it's artsy and fun and you can "putter about the 'hood." (Really? The hood?) and have gaggles of small kids following you, but you could also take that 25K and feed a small town. Good job for the artist because as we all know it's tough to make a living as an artist.

Happy Halloween

This photo is so frightening. I'd so much rather see people dressing up like this today than skantilly clad vixens. Sorry guys, but it's Halloween - aren't we supposed to scare people? Enjoy!
