November Happenings

I'm so happy to be a super small part of two events this month.

First is Bear and Bird Boutique + Gallery's Small Stuff 5 show, set to open the 20th. It's a lovely Sunday brunch opening with affordably priced artwork. I saw a chance to do something just a bit different and thus keep in line with 'affordably priced'. I had three of these blocks in my drawer and Ed suggested (honestly, what would I do without that man?) I just paint heads. That lead to primary colors which lead to bears which lead to what you see here. "Cinnamon Bear", "California Golden Bear" and "Tibetan Blue Bear" all measure around 5.5" x 3.75" and will be $75 a piece. Since it's a cash and carry event I'd suggest getting out of bed that particular Sunday (if you're in Florida) and getting some early shopping done.

That same weekend is the Holiday Art Star Craft Bazaar in Philadelphia. It's put on by none other than the great gals, Erin and Megan, at Art Star Gallery & Boutique. They've done the show in the springtime, but this is their first holiday event and starts off with a bang Friday November 18th with their V.I.P preview party. This will include snacks, drinks, live music by Olive Juice, a free Art Star Craft Bazaar Tote Bag, Photobooth Fun w/ Love Me Do Photograpy,+ first dibs on all of the amazing work!

I'm not an official vendor, but since they carry my work in their shop, they're bringing along a collection to the show as well. Since it's fairly close to our home, Ed and I will be leaving the comforts of our wooded lair to attend the party and mingle with other people. Insanity!

Hopefully some of you will be able to attend at least one of these great events and see/buy some wonderful art for the holidays! Enjoy xoxo

Monkey

I know it's only five days until Halloween and I know my company name includes the words 'rigor mortis' but this is what came out last week:

What are you going to do? I can't seem to kill anything anymore. I'd rather give Monkey a party than slice open his head. My sincerest apologies to those of you waiting for more creepiness but after living in a severe depression for so long my head is only popping out cute.

"Banana Birthday" measures 7" x 7" on a custom wood plaque and will go sale Tuesday, November 1st at 3pm EDT in my shop. Have a spooky Halloween and good luck everyone!

Is That A Pear, Or Is It....Inspector Bosc!

I told you I had something else to show you.

Besides making plaques, I've also been sneaking in some actual painting and "Inspector Bosc" is one of the results.

I was eyeing up a pear sitting on my counter top and immediately thought he needed to be dressed up. If you're interested, he measures 6.75" x 9.5" and will go on sale Friday, October 14th at 3pm EDT.

You can see some close up pics over in the shop. Good luck and have fun!

I Made Cookies

I know it's early for gingerbread - but what the heck!

These five Miniature Gingerbreadmen plushes are real and going to be for sale. I swear I'm not kidding. If you've been moping around for two years because you missed out on one of my handmade dolls, now's your chance.

I got bored when our power and water was out for five days and I found these guys in a drawer, perfectly cut out and embellished and just begging to be sewn together. So I pulled out my needle and stuffing and went to town hand sewing them. I had the hangtags, embroidered labels and numbered birth certificates too (left off at 724 two years ago so these are numbered 725-729).

And in case you might be wondering if this means I might make more handmade plushes, unfortunately it does not. One day of sewing and stuffing was enough and I'm firmly back to painting and printing :)

So take a sweet break and bite into a little gingerbread. Goes on sale Tuesday, September 20th at 3pm EDT.

Who's Shaking My House?

Well that was a crazy feeling. Working in my office, Ed was sitting on the floor next to me and my chair started shaking. My brain says, why is Ed shaking my chair? Then I hear creaking from upstairs and think, who the fuck is in my house?! Then I see that Ed's hand is not near my chair, which is still shaking and Ed is quietly saying, 'earthquake...earthquake...earthquake...'. (apparantly I was yelling, "Is this an earthquake?!" at that point)

Ran outside (ground still shaking) and our pond was swishing around but everything seems alright.

Not something we get everyday here in New Jersey.

And my mom just called and said that we are now in 'the cone' for hurricane Irene. Good. We could use some excitement around here.

Oh I almost forgot, my latest painting is going up for sale on Thursday at 3pm EDT in the shop.

Closeup from "Mutual Admiration"

Mutual Admiration

Ed found a tiger moth on our front steps a few weeks ago.

Further research uncovered how unbelievably ornate and fuzzy these moths can be.

(please forgive me, I couldn't find where the above image was from. If you know, I will gladly give credit.)

Ed suggested a moth staring at a light bulb and then it hit me...a lightning bug!

"Mutual Admiration" was born. 7" x 7" acryic on beveled pine plaque.

Summer Sale!

I just updated my shop with not only the new "No S'more" and "Mr. McPrickles" mounted prints but a sale as well!

A couple of prints are going into retirement and that means limited quantities, $10 each and I won't make anymore after August 25th :D There's also a bunch more on sale for $10 off the regular price.

Hope everyone is having a great summer! Thanks again and have fun shopping :D

Please, No S'more!

I apologize for my lack of new work. I honestly thought I'd be pumping out painting after painting this year, but we've been (thankfully) very busy with our animation/ink and paint company. I did find a bit of time for some doodling...

And although I love the Marshy on the right with the cherry on his head, I just couldn't help laughing everytime I saw the Marshy with the chocolate chip on his butt. So I present, "No S'more"

Enjoy!

Grampa Hoogly

Ed and I were at the farmer's market the other week and we immediately spotted the Ugli fruit. He wanted to eat it and I wanted to paint it. I glanced to the left and there were perfect, little kumquats. The contrast in size, texture and color made me want to paint even more.

I present "Grampa Hoogly",

He'll go up for sale Saturday, June 4th at 8pm EDT in my shop.
